XII Young Painter Prize

XII YPP prize:
This year the winner will receive a two month residency in SIM Residency, Reykjavík (2021 June – July, Island), a financial prize 2000 eur and an opportunity to hold a solo show in “Pamėnkalnio galerija” Gallery, Vilnius. Yet the most significant part of ‘package’ is that the winner’s work will be included in Lietuvos nacionalinis dailės muziejus art collection in the National Art Gallery paintings funds.

The XII YPP Jury:
Jānis Avotiņš – a Latvian painter, a tutor and lecturer, the receipient of the Prix Jean-François Prat in 2016; Jean-Max Colard – an art critic, exhibition curator and literary scholar. He’s actually working at The Centre Pompidou as head of the Talk Program and as responsible for the new online Centre Pompidou’s school; Liina Raus – organic and bioorganic chemist, former textile conservator of Estonian National Museum textile collection, curator, art collector, the co-founder and manager of Kogo gallery; Vilmantas Marcinkevičius – a Lithuanian painter, initiator of international competition for young artists – Young Painter Prize, art collector and Lina Lapelytė – an artist living and working in London and Vilnius, in 2019 Lina earned Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize and Venice Art Biennale “Golden Lion” for the opera-performance “Sun and Sea (Marina)” (Together with Rugile Barzdžiukaitė and Vaiva Grainyte).

Young Artists from Baltic States Will Gather in Vilnius Again. What goes on in the minds of the up-and-coming artists in our region? What creative ideas they are developing? What are the current issues they are reflecting on? This year XII Young Painter Prize competition will give us a chance to find out.
For the twelfth time young artists from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are invited to take part in the competition. Meanwhile art lovers and critics are invited to meet up, debate, criticise, and share their experiences both online and in various designated project spaces.
XII YPP project invites Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian artists from various disciplines. The applicants can be both students and graduates of any art school of the world. The main criteria for submission are: the artwork must be a painting (no restrictions on the expressive means), and the artist must not be older than 30.
